Callithrix is a genus of New World Monkeys that are in the Callitrichidae family; a family that contains various Marmoset and Tamarin species of monkeys. This genus includes Marmosets from the Atlantic Forest regions of South America. The genera Mico and Callibella were formerly considered a subgenus of the genus Callithrix, but they are now considered independant.
